What causes Peyronie’s disease?

The cause of Peyronie’s disease in most men is unknown. It just happens.

It’s nothing they’ve done, or haven’t done. It’s not their partners fault. People often look for a cause, but in this condition, frequently there is no cause.

Now there are some men who have a recognizable cause. For example, penile trauma, erectile trauma, can cause scarring in the penis.

For example, a couple may be having sex, and accidentally the erection is bent acutely. That can cause scarring, that can cause Peyronie’s disease, or a bend in the erection.

Some men who don’t get a good erection need to use penile injection therapy.

This is where they inject their penis five minutes before sex, and this penile injection therapy in some men can cause Peyronie’s disease.

The majority of men, however, develop it for no identifiable reason.
